Experienced Stroke Technique Instructor
Part-time · Contractor · In-person in Nolanville, TX · $20–30/hour
Squiddles Swim School is looking for an experienced Stroke Technique Instructor to join our team and help swimmers progress from foundational water survival skills into strong, efficient swimming technique.
This is a specialized role. Our swimmers have already been taught critical survival skills, and we are looking for an instructor who understands how to build upon those skills — not replace or undo them.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking an experienced swim instructor or coach with a strong background in:
Teaching proper stroke technique and development
Freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly progression
Body position, breathing, kicking, endurance, and stroke efficiency
Identifying and correcting technique issues
Working with children and/or adults at varying skill levels
Progressing swimmers while respecting previously learned water survival skills
Our ideal instructor understands that survival skills and stroke development can work together. We are not looking to retrain swimmers from the beginning or remove the survival responses they have already worked hard to develop.
The Role
Location: 304 E Avenue H, Nolanville, TX 76559
Position: Part-time, in-person, contractor
Hours: About 20 hours per week; hours vary based on swim season
Our survival instructors will continue to focus on each swimmer’s foundational water safety and survival skills. Once a swimmer is ready for the next step, they can transition to you for focused stroke development and technique.
You may work with children who have completed their survival foundation and are ready to progress, swimmers who are already water-safe but need more advanced stroke instruction, and adults looking to improve their technique, efficiency, or endurance.
This role is ideal for someone who is skilled in the technical side of swimming and wants to help swimmers progress without undoing the survival skills they’ve already developed.
Qualifications
Previous swim instruction or coaching experience is required. Competitive swimming, swim team coaching, or extensive stroke-development experience is strongly preferred.
We’re especially interested in someone who is confident in their technique knowledge, receptive to the Squiddles teaching philosophy, and willing to collaborate with our survival instructors so swimmers experience a thoughtful, consistent progression.
Compensation
$20–30/hour, based on experience and qualifications. We’re looking for someone with established experience teaching stroke technique, so compensation will reflect your background, certifications, and level of coaching experience.
This is a part-time position with the opportunity to grow as our Stroke Development program expands.
Interested?
We’d love to hear about your swimming/coaching background, experience teaching stroke technique, availability, and why you think you’d be a good fit for Squiddles Swim School.
